On Feb.15 I had the honor of attending with National Secretary Ray Lynch and Past National President Ed Wallace, a presentation of the movie, “How to Diffuse a Bomb, the Project Children Story,” in Jupiter, Fl. It’s always an honor to speak with Denis Mulcahy and his team as we prepare for the Project Children 50th Anniversary Celebration in Monaghan, Ireland, this October.
I had the honor of marching in several St. Patrick’s Day Parades in March: St. Augustine, FL, Melbourne, FL, and Savannah, Ga. It was great to see old Hibernian friends and to greet new ones.
On Tuesday, March 11, we ran the Project Children Webinar “Move to Monaghan Peace Campus.” The webinar was moderated by National President Sean Pender and speakers from Project Children were Denis Mulcahy, Catherine Flood, Patricia MacBride and Sheila Keenan. If you missed it, you can view the webinar on our AOH Youtube page.
On Thursday, March 13, Deputy National Secretary Greg Sean Canning and I were honored to attend the Consul General of Ireland Sarah Kavanagh’s gathering at the Castle Irish Pub in Orlando for the formal appointment of the new, Irish Honorary Consul in Orlando, Patrick Delaney. The event was attended by Irish Government Minister Darragh O’Brien T.D.
To finish the month, on March 28, Irish Consul General Sarah Kavanagh, National Secretary Ray Lynch, Deputy National Secretary Greg Sean Canning, myself and many brothers from the Broward County Division and Florida, traveled down to Miami to Loan Depot Ballpark to attend Irish Heritage night at the park.
This was a joint gathering of the Irish American Baseball Society, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Emerald Society. An on-field award was presented to Marlins Pitcher Declan Cronin. The Consul General had the honor of throwing out the first pitch.
]]>I want to wish all our Hibernians a happy and joyous New Year.
In the last quarter, we accomplished our goal set by President Sean Pender and the National Board of meeting with all the State Presidents assigned to my area. The State President Zoom meeting and training that we had on November 25 was a tremendous success. A grateful thanks to National Chief of Staff Tim McSweeney and National Oversight Committee Chairman Denny Parks for running the training. Another State Presidents training Zoom call will be scheduled in January after I can determine the best date for all of us.
Each State Committee Chairman should have reached out to their National Chair by now. State Chairman are asked to pass down information they receive to their county and division chairs. Involvement and knowledge helps keep our membership interested and active.
As we move into the new year, Presidents are reminded to update your election results in the National Roster. The National Form 11 is due by February 15 if you wish to receive the discount. ($16 per member before Feb. 15; $20 per member after the Feb. 15.) Remember to attach your IRS 990E form to your Form 11 when mailing it in with your check. If you have any questions please contact the Deputy National Secretary Greg Sean Canning at grioghar@mac.com.
Lastly, I’m looking forward to attending the Life March on the 24th in D.C. I have been attending the march every year since 2009. Brothers, if you wish to be inspired by the Pro-Life Movement come out and see the tens of thousands of young college students bussed in from across the country, joining thousands of supporters marching for Pro-Life. The news media will never show you the tremendous support, or how well attended this march is. Hope to see you there, may God Bless you all!
Yours in Friendship Unity and Christian Charity,
Keith P. Reynolds
