Today, on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the US Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the opinion was authored by Justice Alito. Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett joined Alito\u2019s opinion. Chief Justice John Roberts did not join the majority opinion but filed a separate opinion agreeing with the Court\u2019s decision to uphold the Mississippi law but also arguing that the Court should not have decided the question of whether the Constitution protects abortion. The three justices, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan dissented against the ruling.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Please pray that in the days, weeks, months, and years to come, our Federal government and the states will do the right thing and vote to protect the most innocent and helpless lives among us, and that our communities continue to grow i\ufeffn love and support for families struggling with difficult pregnancies.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Readings for the\u00a0Solemnity of\u00a0Most Sacred Heart of Jesus<\/a>\u00a0June, 24, 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the readings below, from Holy Mass for Today, June, 24, 2022, we hear Jesus referred to as the Good Shepherd who will care for his flock.\u00a0 These readings seem perfect for today’s U.S. Supreme Court Ruling.\u00a0 Please join your prayers with the Masses being said around the world today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading I Ezekiel 34:11-16<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thus says the Lord GOD:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I myself will look after and tend my sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a shepherd tends his flock<\/p>\n\n\n\n

when he finds himself among his scattered sheep,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

so will I tend my sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will rescue them from every place where they were scattered<\/p>\n\n\n\n

when it was cloudy and dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will lead them out from among the peoples<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and gather them from the foreign lands;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will bring them back to their own country<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and pasture them upon the mountains of Israel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the land’s ravines and all its inhabited places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In good pastures will I pasture them,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There they shall lie down on good grazing ground,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lost I will seek out,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading II Romans 5:5b-11<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Brothers and sisters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The love of God has been poured out into our hearts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Christ, while we were still helpless,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

died at the appointed time for the ungodly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

though perhaps for a good person<\/p>\n\n\n\n

one might even find courage to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But God proves his love for us<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much more then, since we are now justified by his blood,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

will we be saved through him from the wrath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, if, while we were enemies,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

how much more, once reconciled,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

will we be saved by his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only that,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but we also boast of God through our Lord Jesus Christ,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

through whom we have now received reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gospel Lk 15:3-7<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jesus addressed this parable to the Pharisees and scribes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and go after the lost one until he finds it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when he does find it,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

he sets it on his shoulders with great joy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and, upon his arrival home,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,      <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I tell you, in just the same way<\/p>\n\n\n\n

there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

than over ninety-nine righteous people<\/p>\n\n\n\n

who have no need of repentance.”<\/p>\n
